Shape Hunt!

What is it

Hunt for shapes of different colours and size!


Teaching Objectives

  • Improves visual discrimination

  • Learn different shapes, colours and size

  • Learn to recognise words associated with shapes, colours and size


How to use

  • Start from Page 1 as the level of difficulty increases with every page

  • Prompt the child to read the sentence statement at the bottom of each page

  • Provide verbal questions “How many triangles are there?” or “Can you find all the purple hearts?” whenever necessary




Teaching tips

  • Write numbers into each shape as the child counts

  • Point to the shapes together with your child to teach the strategy of counting from top to bottom or from left to right


Embed more learning opportunities

  • Receptive language- Point to the oval

  • Expressive language - this triangle is (colour), what shape is this?

  • Draw or cut out different shapes and do a shape hunt around the house!
